Roots

Today we overheard Mike and Mona talking about how they wished they knew more about where Guy came from. Of course, they know everything about me, but Guy was picked up off the streets from some nice people and put in the cages till he found a good home. So Guy is feeling very down that he can't explain to Mike and Mona that his mommy and daddy left him and his brothers and sisters and so Guy tried very hard to get them food and keep them warm only to have them take off and leave him alone. Sometimes he could barely find enough food and would huddle with stray cats to stay warm. Pumpkin, Tom Selleck and I all tried to point out that it doesn't matter that Mike and Mona don't know because he's in a loving home with great friends and will be safe forever and ever. That cheered him up a bit. In the back of all of our minds, though, was the thought that Guy is one of the few lucky ones. So many other kitty cats face the daily danger of coyotes, raccoons, dogs and cars or just cruel humans. Why can't humans keep their cats inside and keep them safe and happy?
